Executive Office Description:

The Maternal, Child and adolescent health services is one of the LEOs under the state minister Office for Service and Programs Wing.

The Lead Executive Office (LEO) is composed of four desks namely, Reproductive Health, Family Planning, Adolescent and Youth Health Service, maternal health, Newborn and Child Health service and Immunization Service with a total of 91 staffs.

To protect the public by ensuring safety and quality of health and health related services through pre license inspection, licensing and post license inspection of health institutions and hygiene and environmental health inspection of health-related institutions, community participation, collaboration and provision of up-to-date regulatory information.

Objective

Disease Prevention and Control Lead Executive Office

Disease Prevention and Control Executive Office is responsible to coordinate communicable and non-communicable disease programs. Accordingly, the Directorate coordinates the designing and development of national strategies, policy guidance, technical guidelines, protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, and intervention packages. Moreover, the Directorate is responsible for ensuring the availability and uninterrupted supply of commodities for the programs, which is mainly done in collaboration with the Ethiopian Pharmaceuticals Supply Agency (EPSA).

Ethiopia has planned to give COVID 19 vaccine for 20% of the population in the first phase. The front-line health care workers, the elderly people,( above the age of 55 years), people above 18 years old with comorbid conditions,  teachers, IDPs, people in refugee camps, and people working in public service are among the prioritized people to take the vaccine.
