Disease Prevention and Control

The health policy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has given due emphasis to promotive and preventive interventions coupled with basic curative services. Consequently, the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention General Directorate (HPDP-GD) has been established to achieve greater public satisfaction by engaging communities and families in the inception, implementation and evaluation of health programms.

Women, children and Youth Affairs

The Federal Ministry of Health, Women’s, children and youth affairs directorate is responsible to coordinates and leads most gender, child, youth, and disability-related activities of the health sector by working closely with other directorates, federal hospitals, and agencies as well as Regional and City administration health bureau structures to ensure women, men, youth, Persons with disability equally benefit from the health services.

Health Information Technology Directorate in the health sector works to improve Quality service delivery; To improve accessibility and equity; Implement health services with the help of indigenous and innovative technologies; It is working to implement health information technology in the health sector to enable timely, quality data collection, use and transmission.

Objective of the directorate is to provide independent, objective, assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the Ministry's operations and systems of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.

It also aims to design new system of human resources development and retention programs. The existence of adequate number of skilled, motivated and well-supported health workers is essential for the delivery of efficient health services.
